What this is about
In 1986 our beloved state of California enacted a measure to help pressure unscrupulous companies to stop exposing the public to harmful chemicals.  It really helped.  An inadvertent result is that even companies doing their level best to protect the public felt pressured to add signage to the point where every Starbucks in California has a large warning prominently posted over the cream and sugar, and every plush toy at Disneyland has a warning tag.  It’s become so ubiquitous that the signage and labeling can go completely unnoticed unless you happen to see it on a flashy, new company making a name for itself.

The by and by
